We came away from Leeds feeling incredibly positive after UKREiiF this year! What an exciting time to be involved in the East Midlands! Earlier this year we were comissioned by the East Midlands Combined County Authority to come up with an innovative way to highlight the regions key developments.

We were blown away with the feedback on our ‘Runway to Regeneration’ 80s arcade game which added a bit of fun to UKREiiF. At Digital Urban we’re striving to build tools that aid local authorities and communities. Tools that can be used to deliver feedback on the developments that affect their livelihoods. Our digital tools are designed to promote inclusion and can significantly improve the public’s understanding and involvement. This starts with better quality feedback, from more diverse voices, which leads to improved project outcomes. One way we promote inclusion is through gamified experiences such as the arcade game – a first for Digital Urban. We’ve learnt from the gaming world that we can drive understanding for all by the use of narrative, world building and frankly – fun!
The regional mayors may have battled it out for top spot on the leader board, but over the three days their passion truly was for people and place first rather than competition. From the panel talks to one-on-one conversations the theme was the private sector coming together with the public sector to have a greater combined impact. We could not have agreed more and we look forward to providing a service to both to bring about positive changes to the region.

It felt very special to have collaborated with the East Midlands Combined County Authority on this project and to have the support from the Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward. We look forward to further projects within the region.
