We’re delighted to share that we will be working with Thanet District Council modelling the Ramsgate and Walpole digital twin to aid the regeneration of the historic Ramsgate and Margate areas.
We will then create virtual reality experiences to promote public engagement with regeneration projects funded by the government’s Levelling Up Fund.
Their model will help the local authority to see how new developments would sit alongside their historic buildings and the virtual reality engagement will ensure that the council engages more broadly that ever before. They are keen to attract a younger and more ethnically diverse population than traditional consultations and we are delighted to be able to help with this.
It’s that exciting time on a project when our teams are learning about the client’s plans so we can ensure we create something perfect for their usage, their timing and their budget.
We love the surprises we find when modelling old buildings in areas our team weren’t previously familiar with. Did you know that Ramsgate Royal Harbour Office used to be the ‘Home for Smack Boys’ when it was built back in 1881? These ‘smack boys’ were often orphans apprenticed to local smack fishermen – smacks being large sail boats.
Who knows what we’ll learn about some of the other important historic buildings we’re also modelling.
